DEKA DOT Fractional CO2 Laser

This unique laser allows for targeted treatment of specific skin areas rather than treating the entire area. This allows the laser to identify and treat spots without touching the surrounding areas.

Collagen remodeling (reorganization and rebuilding of collagen) is the main goal of this treatment. A grid pattern is scanned onto the skin and then magnified and displayed to Dr. Chang on an LCD screen.

By viewing the treatment grid, Dr. Chang can customize treatment for what each patient needs to get best results. To assist with best results, the DEKA DOT display provides suggestions for Dr. Chang in regards to treatment area size, depth, laser density, and length of time of the laser pulse.

No two patients are the same, and this treatment allows for you to get exactly what you need from your DEKA DOT treatment.

The treatment cycle for this laser is as follows:

1. DEKA DOT creates a micro-ablation column in the skin
2. The micro-injury causes thermal damage; collagen fibers tighten up
3. Once the healing process begins, the skin creates new collagen and new skin cells
4. The new collagen fibers rebuild the inner structure of the skin for a more youthful appearance (tighter skin with a smoother texture)
5. Surface pigmentation is targeted, destroyed, and “sloughs off” in the weeks after treatment, revealing new skin

CoolPeel

The same company that made the DEKA DOT device also makes CoolPeel. The CoolPeel procedure is more superficial (surface of the skin), so it offers a faster recovery time as compared to traditional CO2 lasers.

CoolPeel is ideal for improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, giving the skin a smoother texture, and fading brown spots. I like to use this laser on patients in their 30’s because it helps to manage sun damage and fine lines before they get worse with age.

I also love this treatment for my older patients who are looking to turn back the hands of time with a little skin tightening, reducing years of sun damage, and smoothing away of mild wrinkles.
