Injectable fillers are a beautiful, temporary way to enhance the lips. With just a short session of about 15-20 minutes, your lips can look fuller, younger, and more defined.
At Beatitude Aesthetic Medicine, Aeria Chang, MD, has performed tens of thousands of injections (you read that right!) using fillers and muscle relaxers. Much of her experience has been with lip augmentations to correct thinning lips and vertical lip lines.
Pricing, Side Effects, Downtime, & Longevity
How much it costs: Pricing is calculated on a per syringe basis. Check with our appointment desk because we usually have some great prices per syringe, depending on the specials we’re running at the time.
Side effects: Allergic reactions are exceedingly rare because HA fillers are made of a similar molecule to one already found in your body. Some other side effects (rare) that Allergan mentions on the product label include scarring and infections. Minor effects from treatment that usually go away quickly include discomfort, inflammation, and bruising.
Downtime: Lip fillers do not require any downtime or time away from work. Most clients have minor enough side effects to return to work the next day. Consider getting your treatment on a Friday afternoon after work and recovering through the weekend if you tend to bruise or swell easily.
How long lip fillers last: If you’re needle shy but still want a non-surgical solution to fuller lips, then fillers are a wonderful way to accomplish this. Injections need to be repeated every 12 months or so. It’s a good idea to get re-injected a few weeks before the 12-month point if you’d like to maintain your full results. The body absorbs the HA filler slowly, so results will diminish as you get closer to 12 months post-treatment.
Why Juvéderm?
Dr. Chang prefers to use Juvéderm products for the lips because they are made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar in the body. HA fillers are great because they are formulated to draw moisture in toward the HA molecules. The added moisture provides fullness and a youthful, hydrated appearance.
Additionally, Dr. Chang is a Platinum Plus injector for Allergan, Inc., the makers of Juvéderm and BOTOX. This means you can feel confident in the number of injections she does on a regular basis, her years of experience, and her proven track record when it comes to results.
One of her preferred fillers is Juvéderm Ultra XC. This unique HA formula provides clients with naturally fuller lips with the added benefit of lidocaine inside. Dr. Chang offers both ice and topical numbing gel prior to lip filler treatment. The Ultra XC formula comes with numbing anesthetic inside to make injections more comfortable.
She prides herself on offering fantastic services with little to no downtime and the highest level of comfort possible. It is for all of these reasons that Dr. Chang prefers to use Juvéderm in the lips.
Belotero is sometimes also used around the lips to help fill in deep creases around the mouth.
