What are Nova Threads?
Nova Threads are made of a dissolvable, absorbable material called PDO. This is the same material used by surgeons for internal sutures. The PDO material is one of the safest materials that can be implanted in the body. Your skin fully absorbs the PDO suture over the course of 4-6 months.
How do Nova Threads work?
When inserted under the skin, they cause an inflammatory response that stimulates the skin’s normal healing processes. As the threads dissolve, they gently stimulate collagen formation creating structural support, volume, tightening and lift. The threads gradually dissolve and are fully absorbed over four to six months. They cause no scars and there is no risk of an allergic response, and there is no recovery time.
What is the youthful V-shaped face?
The V shape of the face is desired because it imparts a youthful appearance. The face is slimmer and more heart shaped with a narrower jawline and chin.
What are Nova Threads used for?
As we age, and with gravity, the skin falls creating jowls, turkey necks, lines and wrinkles, and a poorly defined jawline. The V shape of youth loses structure, the skin loses elasticity and the classical, youthful V shape is reversed or turned upside down.
The goal is to maintain or recreate fullness in the upper face, to lift the mid face, or the lower face, and to lift and tighten the jawline, and neck. Applying the threads in a Mesh pattern or Lyft technique can restore the V shape of youth.
Nova Threads are used for a non-surgical facelift. Thread lifts have been around for years. But Nova Threads are a significant improvement over other treads in use today, in that they are thicker than other thread types used for cosmetic purposes, and they are barbed. These tiny barbs grab and lift the skin.
In a simple office procedure, Nova Threads are placed beneath the skin to provide support for new collagen growth and at the same time the threads lift the skin to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. The results usually last about six-twelve months and leave behind firmer, more taut skin.
Nova threads can be used on the face, and on the body to lift and smooth the skin of the neck, chest, arms, buttocks, breasts and thighs. They are particularly effective at rejuvenating the neck and jawline in the lower face, where Botox and fillers are inadequate.
The Nova Thread Procedure
The Nova Lyft or Mesh procedure is an office procedure using a local anesthetic. Because the PDO threads are provided in a hypodermic needle, they are gently inserted just below the skin as an injection. The needle is removed, and the threads are left in place. They stay in place because of their unique barbed shape. There are no incisions, and no scarring.
Nova Threads can be implanted individually to pull the tissues up to reduce nasolabial folds and improve neck contours. Or, they can be implanted as a mesh structure or for a lifting approach.
Nova Thread Techniques
- Nova Mesh Technique – The Nova Mesh is a technique using Nova threads to create a scaffold under the skin to create a foundation for new collagen formation. The mesh is created by implanting threads in a crisscross fashion. This tightens and lifts the skin providing a smoother, less wrinkled appearance.
- Nova Lyft Technique – NovaLyft is technique to produce even more dramatic results. The PDO sutures are inserted and pulled in several directions stimulating new collagen production. This procedure is performed to lift the brows, cheeks and to tighten the neck.
The use of Nova Threads requires no cuts or incisions They are supplied in needles that are simply inserted just below the skin’s surface and remain under the skin while new collagen is formed.
Results are immediate with minimal discomfort. A local anesthetic will be applied for comfort. It is a safe and well tolerated procedure that produces immediate results with minimal discomfort. Nova thread lifts create natural results without surgery, that last about one year.
