After just two treatments with miraDry®, Dr. Chang restores your self-confidence and eliminates any negative social reactions from your daily life.
A majority of individuals who suffer from excessive sweating do not consult with a physician about their problem due to a variety of reasons ranging from embarrassment to humiliation. However, if you suffer from underarm sweating, you are not alone.
Excessive sweating is a problem for millions of Americans affecting multiple aspects of their daily life. Referred to as hyperhidrosis in the medical field, excessive sweating is a condition where an individual’s sweat glands are overactive causing them to produce more sweat than necessary to cool the body.
How does miraDry® work?
A miraDry® hand device delivers precisely controlled electromagnetic energy to the area where sweat glands reside under the arm. The energy is used to heat and deactivate the sweat glands. The results of miraDry® are long lasting as the sweat glands are completely eliminated. miraDry® is a safe procedure and will have no affect on your body’s functions or its ability to cool itself after the sweat glands have been eliminated.
The procedure is customized to each individual. miraDry® is a non-invasive procedure and does not require surgery or any types of cuts or incisions. After examining the underarm area and injecting minimal anesthesia to help reduce feelings of discomfort, the electromagnetic energy will be delivered.
The entire process typically takes about an hour. In order to produce maximum results, it is suggested patients select the full treatment plan which requires two hour long procedures, spaced about three months apart.
What to Expect After Treatment
The procedure may result in localized soreness and swelling under and near the top of the arm. Ice packs are recommended to help reduce any mild discomfort that may occur. Some patients also reported altered feelings of sensation immediately after the procedure which gradually disappeared. Aside from these minor side effects, there is typically little to no downtime and patients are able to go about their normal routines following a treatment session.
Patients usually begin to notice positive effects immediately. Recent studies and clinical data have reported 90% effectiveness and 90% patient satisfaction with miraDry®. However, as with any medical treatment, results may vary by patient.
By utilizing the same technology that created the permanent sweat & odor eliminating treatment miraDry®, Miramar Labs has invented a permanent underarm hair solution. MiraSmooth® works by heating the hair follicles underneath the skin, thus eliminating them. Unlike laser hair treatments, which can take 7 or more sessions to be effective, miraSmooth® patients have seen up to a 70% reduction in hair growth after a single session.
Another advantage over laser treatments is the ability to work on all skin tones and hair textures, instead of relying on contrasting colors. Because miraSmooth® & miraDry® use the same technology and equipment clients are now able to permanently eliminate unwanted underarm hair and excessive sweating at the same time.
