Dermal Fillers are powerful non-surgical anti-aging tools that give immediate results! Dermal fillers are injected into deeper lines and wrinkles as well as fill areas that are beginning to become sunken or hollowed in the face. Years can be taken off the face instantly!
What Are Dermal Fillers Made Of?
In the U.S., there are a limited number of fillers that have been approved for cosmetic use. There are Hyaluronic Acid (HA) fillers like Belotero, Juvederm, and Restylane. HA is a naturally-occurring hydrating substance in our skin that we lose with aging. Radiesse is made of calcium hydroxyapatite crystals, similar to the natural calcium in the body. They are temporary fillers lasting 6-12 months. Voluma was approved in the U.S. in 2014. It has a unique stabilizing structure that strengthens the skin and causes subtle lifting effects. It can last up to 2 years. Voluma has revolutionized midface volume restoration.

What Is Involved in Dermal Filler Injections?
Dr. Chang uses a combination of potent numbing cream, nerve block, and ice to keep discomfort to minimum. There will be minimal to mild swelling depending on the product injected. Bruising is a potential complication but this can be minimized by stopping Aspirin or Ibuprofen products for one week before the injection and by taking Arnica before and after the procedure. Applying topical Arnica after the procedure can expedite bruise healing.
What Are Sculptra and Artefill?
Sculptra is a synthetic filler that takes weeks and series to see unpredictable results. With so many safe and predictable fillers, Dr. Chang sees no value in Sculptra. She also does not use the permanent filler Artefill that can have permanent consequences.
